The Celestial Steed Silk V-Neck Dress - Mercury/Moonstone

This Silk V-Neck Dress is constructed in London from our dusky Crepe-de-Chine. It features an elegant and simple straight-cut shape which lightly skims the figure. It has delicate, adjustable straps, an internal double-facing around the bust, French seams throughout and a precise pin hem. The side seams are open to the knee to allow for ease of movement, and the dress fastens with a concealed side zip.

The Celestial Steed was inspired by Italian Renaissance paintings and cultural events alongside beliefs and attitudes of the era; the dichotomy of idealism versus naturalism opening a portal to landscapes of fantasy, a ‘New World’. The armorial details, such as the sabaton shoe and the gauntlet reference historical examples from the Renaissance. The metallic elements are holding dainty, fragile flowers: a juxtaposition of strength and delicacy. Carnations symbolising devotion and divine love, daisies mirroring solar movements throughout day and night; the setting of the sun is inevitably followed by its rising, and there can be no more powerful symbol of hope and resurrection. They are surrounded by heraldic suns, the moon of Galileo Galilei, and the stars of Giotto.
